Configuring F1 SIM & F1 SIM COMPACT: Windows 95: The configuration procedure for the F1 SIM and F1 SIM COMPACT within Windows 95 are identical. When in Windows 95 enter the Control Panel. Here you will find an icon entitled either "Control Devices" or "Joystick". Double clicking on this icon will take you into "Control Set-up" or "Joystick Properties". From the Joystick Configuration screen select "Custom". Once selected, set the controller as a "2 Axis 4 Button" with Special Features, to "Is a Race Car Controller". Then click OK. You may be given the option to give the unit a name i.e. Digital Edge F1 SIM or Digital Edge F1 SIM COMPACT. Click OK. This will take you back to the Joystick Properties screen. If the message "Not Connected" is displayed, re-check all the connections and repeat the above procedure. Click on Calibrate. Follow the on screen instructions. You Digital Edge F1 SIM/ F1 SIM COMPACT is now set up in Windows 95. Note: Users of the Microsoft Sidewinder must disconnect this joystick before attempting the above procedure. Microprose GP2: After installing Microprose GP2 (please follow the manual), enter the game and select Main Menu. Move the cursor down to "Control Method" and press enter. This will display three different types of controls; Keyboard Joystick Not Used Highlight "Not Used", click on "Advanced Menu". This will take you to the "Advanced Control Method" screen. Check the settings under "Gear Change" are as follows; Change Up - Joystick "A" Fire 1 Change Down - Joystick "A" Fire 2. Select "Calibrate Joystick". This will take you to the "Calibrate Joystick Menu". Check that Joystick "A" is set to X & Y and Joystick "B" is set to None. Click OK. Once in the Calibration screen follow the simple on screen instructions, using the paddle gears as the "fire" button click OK. You are ready to use your Digital Edge F1 SIM/ F1 SIM COMPACT with Microprose GP2. Network Q Rally Championship: After installing Network Q Rally enter the game. Once in the game at the "Main Options" screen move the cursor to "Game Options" press enter, then select "Control Options". The cursor will be flashing on "Controller" move the cursor right to "Joystick" (Not Wheel). Next, move to "Joystick Acceleration", and highlight the picture of a "Joystick Handle" (not the joystick buttons). Move to "Calibrate Controller" and press enter. Within the calibration screen, you must: firstly, turn the wheel fully left, and press the right hand gear changer; secondly, turn wheel fully right, pressing the gear changer, depress the brake pedal, press the gear changer; thirdly depress the gas pedal, and press the gear changer; finally, centre the wheel and press the gear changer. This will return you to the "Control Options" screen. Select 'Game Options' to start the race. Your Digital Edge F1 SIM / F1 SIM COMPACT is now calibrated and you are ready to go. Nascar Racing & Indycar Racing: Install Nascar Racing/ Indycar Racing and load the game (please follow the manual). After the demo you will enter the "Calibrate Joystick 1" screen. To calibrate your Digital Edge F1 SIM/ F1 SIM COMPACT, you must; Turn the wheel fully to the left, then fully to the right. Apply full accelerator, then full brake. Press enter. You will now be at the Calibrate Joystick 2 screen. This is not connected. To bypass, press enter. From the main menu select "Options". In the Options screen select "Controls", here you will have the following; Set Controls Calibrate Joystick 1 Calibrate Joystick 2 Non - Linear Steering Done Select "Set Controls", there will be a list of controls, i.e. Steering, Acceleration, Braking, Shift Up, Shift Down and Reverse. These must be individually assigned. Press enter on "Steering", then turn the wheel LEFT, then RIGHT. Move cursor to "Acceleration", press enter, then fully depress the gas pedal. Repeat for "Braking", depressing the brake pedal. Move cursor to "Shift Up", press enter, then press right hand gear paddle. Repeat for "Shift Down" pressing the left handed gear paddle. Move cursor to "Reverse", select either the red or yellow button on the steering wheel or a key on your keyboard. Select "Done". This will bring you back to the "Controls" screen. Select "Done" to return to the "Options" screen. If at this time you wish to remove automatic gear changing and braking, select "Driving Aids". Press enter on "Automatic Shifting" to toggle between Manual and Automatic. Repeat for braking. Select "Done" twice. You will now be back to the main race menu. EIDOS Power F1: After Installing EIDOS Interactive Power F1 (please follow the manual), you will be at the main menu, from here, move the cursor down to "Control Options" and press enter. Once in the control set-up screen you will see player 1 and player 2 options, you will also see a Toolbar at the bottom of the screen with a number of different control devices. These are shown as follows; Joy 1, Joy 2, Mouse, Keyboard, Wheel, QUIT, Wheel, Keyboard, Mouse, Joy 2, Joy 1 You will need to set your Digital Edge F1 SIM/ F1 SIM COMPACT up as a custom joystick. To do this you must NOT select any of the options stated above. To set up your F1 SIM move the cursor so "Steer Left" is highlighted. You will have two boxes on the left-hand side (Player 1) which will either have a picture of a Keyboard or a Joystick with the number 1 or number 2 next to it. Click on this box until "Joystick 1" appears. Move the cursor to the next box and press enter until a left facing arrow appears. Move down the list to set up the directional controls to show as follows; "Steer Right" - "Joystick 1" - "Arrow Right" "Accelerate" - "Joystick 1" - "Arrow Up" "Brake" - "Joystick 1" - "Arrow Down" "Gear Up" - "Joystick 1" - "Button 1" "Gear Down" - "Joystick 1" - "Button 2" Move the cursor to the top left corner to "Calibrate 1" press enter. Follow the on-screen instructions, once completed, you will return to the "Control Set Up" screen. Check that your settings have not changed, highlight "Quit" and press enter to return to the main menu. From the main menu press enter and follow the game instructions. Press the right arrow key until the display changes to "Analogue Joystick" and enter. Select exit until you return to 'Game Select'. Your wheel is already configured through Windows 95 and you are ready to race. Super Karts: Once you have installed Super Karts, enter the game. In the "Main Menu" move the cursor to highlight "Configure" and press enter. Move the cursor "Controls" and press enter. At "Player 1: Keys" press enter, until the display changes to "Player 1: Joy 1", move the cursor to "Calibrate: Joy 1" press enter. Turn the wheel fully to the left, at the same time, depressing the gas pedal fully, and press the gear changer. Turn the wheel fully to the right, at the same time, depressing the brake pedal fully, then press the gear changer. Finally, centre the wheel, pressing the gear changer to complete the calibration process. Return to the "Main Menu", your Digital Edge F1 SIM /F1 SIM COMPACT is now calibrated and you are ready to go. Need For Speed 1: When you have installed the Need For Speed, you will come to the "Joystick Calibration" screen. Turn the wheel fully to the right, then fully to the left, depress the accelerator pedal, then the brake pedal and finally click the gear changer. The game will now load. At the "Control Central" screen there are three pictures; Top right is "Computer Opponent", middle left is type of car and the bottom right is the type of track. Underneath that you have two choices "Options" and "Race" , select "Options". Move the cursor down to control set up and press enter. This will take you to the "Controls Set up" screen. Move the cursor up to "Steering" and press the spacebar, this will change the current control device from Keyboard to Joystick. Continue down to the other control functions, making sure they show as follows; "Steering" - Joystick Left/Right "Accelerator/Brake" - Joystick Up/Down "Gear Up/Down" - Joystick Button 1/Button 2 Move down to "Done" and press enter. This will take you back to the "Options" screen, move the cursor down to "Done" and press enter. You should now be back at "Control Central", you are now ready to play Need For Speed. Sega Daytona USA Deluxe Racing: Once you have installed Sega Daytona USA Deluxe, and the demo has started press the F3 key. This will pause the game. At the top of the screen should be a toolbar with the options; Game Setting View Tool Help Click on "Setting", then "Analogue Control Settings" the next window will show the following; Analogue Steering Control Analogue Gas/Brake Control Place a tick in both boxes for Player 1 only, click on OK and then on F3 to pause. Select "Settings" then "Joystick Settings" change the settings to show as follows; Gas Axis 2- Brake Axis 2+ Shift Up Button 1 Shift Down Button 2 Gears 1 - 4 No Use View Change Button 3 Left Axis 1- Right Axis 1+ All others No Use You are now ready to start the game. Remember to change from automatic transmission (AT) to manual (MT), when you choose your car. When the game is loaded, there will be a Toolbar at the top of the screen, click on 'Options' and select 'Controls'. This will bring you to 'Control Options', click on 'Primary 'Driving Controller', from the drop down menu select 'Race Car Controller', click 'Calibrate'. This will take you to 'Game Controller'. If you have set up your F1 SIM /F1 SIM COMPACT this will show as a named controller with a status of OK. If correct click OK. If the wheel is not set up, please refer to the Windows 95 instructions attached. UBISOFT F1 Racing Simulation: After installing Ubisoft F1 Racing enter the game and select either Player 1 or Multiplayer. This will take you to the "Main Menu". From here you may set up your game options i.e. Game Type, Level, Driver / Team etc. Once completed, click on "Configure" at the bottom right hand side of your screen. In the configure screen select "Controls" When you are at this screen move the mouse to select the brake button at the bottom of your screen a message will be displayed, "Choose Command" press the space bar so the "Brake" and "Accelerator" controls are changed to; Space Keyboard Caps Lock "Brake" "Accelerate" Move to "Gear -" when the "Choose Command" message appears press the left hand paddle, repeat for "Gear +" this time pressing the right hand paddle. Button 2 Steering Wheel 1 Button 1 "Gear -" "Gear +" Finally, you need to reset the "brake" option, by selecting the brake button, this time when the "Choose Command" message appears, depress the left hand brake pedal. Your display should now read as follows; Axle X Steering Wheel 1 Axle X Right Left "Left" "Right" Axle Y Steering Wheel 1 Axle Y UP Down "Brake" "Accelerate" Button 2 Steering Wheel 1 Button 1 "Gear -" "Gear +" Click OK to confirm these commands, and your F1 SIM /F1 SIM COMPACT is calibrated and ready to go. The Options screen will show as several Television screens. As you move the cursor around the screen your options will be displayed in Red. Select 'Edit Game Options' (this is towards the bottom left of your screen) press Enter. In the 'Game Options' screen select 'Input Device', press enter. To configure you F1 SIM /F1 SIM COMPACT, you select each of the following and follow the instructions; Steer Left Turn wheel fully to Steer Right Turn wheel fully to the left the right Accelerate Fully depress the Brake Fully depress the left right pedal pedal Shift Up Press the right paddle Shift Down Press the left paddle When complete move your mouse to 'Calibrate' and select. In the calibration screen - turn the wheel fully to the left, then right, depress the gas pedal, the press the brake pedal. The red dot should be centred on your screen, press enter. Click on ABC Icon until you reach the 'Game Options' screen. You are now ready to make your game selections and go racing. TOCA Touring Car: When you have installed TOCA Touring Car and selected the Language, you will arrive at the 'Main Menu' select 'Game Options' and then 'Controller Set Up'. To set up your Digital Edge F1 SIM /F1 SIM COMPACT select 'Choose Player 1', to select your control device, press the right hand arrow key to change display from 'Keyboard' to 'Joystick 1'. Arrow down to 'Configure Joystick' and press enter. To configure your wheel, select 'Analogue', press enter, then select 'Yes' for both 'Analogue Acceleration' and 'Analogue Braking'. For gear up, press the right hand paddle, behind the steering wheel, and for gear down press the left hand paddle. Press the red button on the steering wheel for 'Rear Camera' and the yellow button for 'Change Camera'. Finally, press 'H' on the keyboard for 'Play Horn' This then take you back to 'Player 1 Controls', select 'back' until you reach the main Menu, You are now ready to race. Once you have set the F1 SIM or F1 COMPACT within windows 95 you are ready to install the game. You will find your F1 SIM or F1 COMPACT is already configured and you are ready to race. Sega Rally Championship PC : Before installing Sega Rally Championship your F1 SIM / F1SIM COMPACT should be configured correctly and calibrated with Windows 95. Once the game has been loaded enter the game and press F3. At the top of the screen three options should appear Game Setting Help Click on setting menu and move the cursor down to "Change Control". This will open another option for Player 1 and Player 2. Ensure that it is on Player 1. The options should have four types of control Joystick and Steering Wheel being the last two. Place the black dot in either Joystick or Steering wheel then click on 'next'. In the next window make sure the following setting apply depending on which of the two you have selected. Joystick: If you have selected joystick for your controller please make sure that the following settings apply. Shift Gear Up = Button 1 Change View = Button 3 Shift Gear Down = Button 2 Make Selection = Button 4 Accelerate = Up Joystick Return To Previous = None screen Brake = Down Joystick Once that is done click on OK. Steering Wheel : If you have selected steering wheel for your controller please make sure that following settings apply. Player 1 A B Custom Button 1 = Shift Gear Up Button 2 = Shift Gear Down Button 3 = View Change Button 4 = Start Once that has been done click on OK. After completing one of the above options, clicking on OK will take you back to the change control window. Make sure that the control is still on the one that you selected. If not and the black dot is in keyboard, check all connections. Click on OK to save the configuration and then F3 to return back to the game. Once in the game select the type of game, Car, transmition (automatic or manual) , then the Course you will like to race and enter the game.
